THE MATTHEW AGENCY HOLDS AN OPEN CALL EVERY WEDNESDAY.

We do not accept phone, email, mail, or social media submissions, unless otherwise noted. Models MUST attend an open call to be considered.

Our Open Call is for serious models only.

Confirmed dates will be posted every month.

PLEASE NOTE: OUR OPEN CALLS ARE FOR TALENT AGE 18 AND UP.

Models under the age of 18 can check back for updates.

Models not fitting the age requirement will not be interviewed.

At the Matthew Agency we represent many different types of professional models with a variety ages, sizes and ethnicities. We are extremely selective with the models we choose to represent. We do not have a children’s division.

The Matthew Agency only accepts local models through our open call. The walk-in takes place the first Wednesday of every month. The open call is open to all genders and ethnicities, fitting the requirements above. We do not currently accept online submissions. Models interested in signing with the agency must attend an open call.

We do not allow models to wait in our office prior to the listed times.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I BECOME A MODEL WITH THE MATTHEW AGENCY?

Simply attend one of our Open Calls. We interview every model that attends(fitting the requirements) and respond with a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ via email in 1-3weeks. We DO NOT accept email**, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, or phone call submissions. **Unless otherwise noted

I CAN'T MAKE IT TO THE OPEN CALL, CAN I COME A DIFFERENT DAY?

Flexibility is something we look for in potential talent. That is why we don’t set up individual appointments. If you’re unable to attend the open call, simply attending the following week.

DO YOU HAVE A HEIGHT REQUIREMENT?

No, we removed our industry standard height requirements, in order to expand our talent search.

DO YOU HAVE SIZE REQUIREMENTS?

No, The Matthew Agency represents models of all sizes.

CAN I ATTEND THE OPEN CALL IF I HAVE TATTOOS?

Yes, we represent models with tattoos. We do not have a policy on that.

DO YOU HAVE AN AGE REQUIREMENT?

We represent all ages above 16. However we are currently only accepting new talent over the age of 18. Models under the age of 18 can check back for updates.

AM I TOO OLD TO ATTEND AN OPEN CALL?

No, we do not have an age maximum. We have models signed with us in their 80s.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE AUDITION?

Wear something comfortable and form fitting. A fitted t-shirt and jeans is perfect. Makeup should be kept minimal.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING, DO I NEED A PORTFOLIO?

Bring a portfolio, if you have one, it is not required. Photos may be physically printed or digital. Please note, will not open photos on a jump drive.

DO I NEED MODELING EXPERIENCE TO ATTEND AN OPEN CALL?

Short answer, no, the agency represents all levels of experience. With that said, experience is a plus, and we do look for talent with previous experience. Only models with a serious interest in the industry should attend.

HOW LONG WILL THE AUDITION TAKE?

The audition process itself will only take 10-15 minutes. Models may have to wait longer, depending on the number of models auditioning. The amount we see changes from week to week, we have no way of estimating wait time.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Our Open Call is a short face to face interview, typically under 5 minutes. We meet with new talent, and take a few digital images. We will provide everyone with a ‘yes or no’ answer, via email. Email responses typically take 1-4 weeks after the open call.

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

Simply walk-in, during the walk-in hours. We do not accept early/late auditions. As long as you are in the office, by 5pm, you will be interviewed. Models should attempt to arrive no later than 15 minutes before close.

I CAN'T FIND YOUR OFFICE, WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located on the fourth floor of McKay Tower: 146 Monroe Center Suite 422 Grand Rapids, MI 49503

The building is famous for its lighted dome on top, you can’t miss it. Biggby Coffee located on the ground floor. The building has a lobby entrance on Monroe Center as well as Pearl St.

WHERE DO I PARK?

The Monroe center parking ramp offers 60 minutes of free parking. The entrance to that ramp is located on Ionia(37 Ionia Ave NW). Our office is just a short walk from there. Metered, and a surface parking lot is also available next to our building. We do not validate parking.

I'VE ATTENDED YOUR OPEN CALL IN THE PAST, AND WAS NOT ACCEPTED. AM I ALLOWED TO ATTEND ANOTHER ONE?

Yes, what we’re looking for changes from time to time. It’s best to allow a few months between Open Calls.

I LIVE FAR AWAY BUT WOULD STILL LIKE TO BE A MODEL WITH THE MATTHEW AGENCY, IS THAT POSSIBLE?

We primarily represent models in West Michigan, and rarely represent models outside that area. Potential models, 60+ miles from Grand Rapids, can submit photos for review. PLEASE NOTE, this is not a replacement for our open call. We will respond if we think it’s worth your time to attend our next open call.

NO PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS OR FILTERED PHOTOS . Submitted photos should not be older than a week. Images MUST look like the sample photos. Submissions not following the listed instructions will not be considered.
